Five weeks into what was originally set to be a three-week project, David Bange, engineering division director, said Capitol Avenue should be open Tuesday, while it may take an additional few days to finish work on Monroe Street.

The project is working on updating an old stormwater system and putting in new handicap-accessible sidewalks and ramps, as well as addressing drainage issues in the United Methodist Church on Monroe Street.

Bange said part of the holdup in the construction timeline was due, in part, to work being done by the water company.

"The project progressed a little bit differently than we had envisioned," Bange said. "Part of that was some of the timing with the water company."
