Your Opinion: Abortion is sin

Dear Editor:

What's an unborn baby's most feared word? Abortion. You may think the child is just something there that you can get rid of real fast, and you're done with it and it won't even affect the baby. Well you're wrong. The baby inside you can feel all the pain that you can. Someday that living kid could run, could talk and play. By having an abortion, you're taking that all away. According to http://www.abort73.com/abortion_facts/us_abortion_statistics/ nearly half of pregnancies among American women are unintended and about four in 10 of these are terminated by abortion. This is not okay. That is not fair to your child or to your body. You can't punish the child for your mistakes.

Coming from my Catholic faith, I highly disagree and realize that abortion is horrible. Because of my faith I know that life begins at conception. According to the seventh commandment, "Thou shalt not kill," abortion is definitely considered a sin. If killing someone is against the law, then killing an unborn child should be as well. Killing a fetus is just as much of a sin as killing any other person on earth.

I understand that many teenagers would think this article is wrong, because they would not want to go through the embarrassment of carrying a child. Or maybe you are not ready to take on the duty of a mother. If that's the case put it up for adoption. There are many people out there that are not able to conceive a baby and would feel lucky to be able to adopt a child. Birth control is also not the answer. Did you know that one in eight women that take birth control get diagnosed with breast cancer? Did you know that taking birth control and the morning after pill is still considered killing an unborn child? If you don't want the embarrassment of having a child as a teen, then don't risk it at all. Just wait until you're married and ready to take on the responsibilities and expense of having a child.
