JCPD officer put on administrative leave after DWI accident

A Jefferson City police officer has been put on administrative leave pending an investigation after she was arrested on Monday for leaving the scene of an accident and driving while intoxicated.

According to a one sentence press release from the department on Tuesday, Rachel Barnard, 35, will remain on leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

Barnard has been with the department for nine years working as a road officer.

She was arrested after allegedly striking a parked pickup truck in the 1600 block of Tanner Bridge Road. She later posted bond and was released.

Barnard is facing potential municipal charges of leaving the scene of an accident and driving while intoxicated. Jefferson Police Department officials continue their investigation and said a police report is not yet available.

Give her a day in court...but how about putting her on paid leave and if she is fond guilty then she has to repay that money back to the city. That way the Tax Payers won't feel like they are getting shafted.
