St. Louis man arrested after police chase

A St. Louis man has been charged in a connection with a Friday night chase with Jefferson City police.

Douglas Menke, 49, is charged with resisting arrest, driving while intoxicated and driving while suspended.

A Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement shows Menke was going west on West McCarty Street and failed to stop at a flashing red light at Bolivar Street.

An officer tried to stop Menke, but he refused.

The pursuit went onto U.S. 54 into Callaway County and eventually onto Missouri 94.

Menke finally stopped at the Route AA intersection on 94.

A check of criminal records found Menke had a felony warrant from St. Louis and a felony warrant from Callaway County, both for failure to appear on DWI charges.

When tested at the police department, Menke had a .160 blood alcohol level.

Menke has four previous DWI convictions.
