Fort Zumwalt West Jaguars handle Jays

Faced with a third-and-44 from its own 20-yard line, the Fort Zumwalt West Jaguars picked up 50 yards on a pass play over the middle. A few plays later they were in the end zone with a 33-14 lead late in the first half.

It was that kind of night for top-ranked Jefferson City as Fort Zumwalt West (No. 5 in Class 6) ran past the Jays 49-21 on Friday night at Adkins Stadium.

The loss means Jefferson City’s game Friday at Hickman will be for a playoff berth. Hickman defeated Troy 33-0 on Friday night, and Fort Zumwalt West (7-2) is the Class 6 District 6 champion.
