CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) — A Cape Girardeau woman is facing misdemeanor charges for calling 911 in a dispute over cigarettes.
The Southeast Missourian reports that the 25-year-old woman got into an argument with a man at her home because he refused to give her a cigarette or speak to her.
Police spokesman Darin Hickey says the woman called 911 seeking someone to come to her house to mediate the altercation. She told authorities her cell phone minutes had run out and 911 was the only call she could make.
Hickey says the woman was cited because the altercation was nonviolent and there was no need for police involvement.
