Your Opinion: Transformation tax proposal opposed #1

Dear Editor:

Headline "pitch for Transformation" tax. How about a pitchfork through the heart of the Transformation tax?

I call all of this the "giddy with excitement" committees. Is this another we have to pass it before we know what's in it (sound familiar)? It walks, talks and looks like stimulus (does this sound familiar)? How about an over reach of the powers that be?

No one, not even the best and/or brightest economists knows the economic projection/outlook for one year (it's a guess), much less 10 years out. Are you kidding me? What exactly, line by line, is in it? What are projected costs for each project? What transformation project is first, second, third and so forth?

Lay your plan out item by item and cost for each in numerical order before you become too "giddy with excitement." Full accountably should be in order. i.e. how much money is taken in, expended and what project is being done.

A question, if something costs 10 cents (including all the other taxes) and we pay the half-cent for this sales tax, we'll have to pay a full cent to cover it, where does the other half-cent go? Into your coffers? I, your humble taxpayer, just cannot sit idly by while these "giddy with excitement" committees goes on a spending spree.

I would hope no one thinks Adrian's Island is viable! The river has said no over and over. How about the downtown "streetscape"? I'm shaking my head. And, all this is for what? jobs, young people, fun , games?

I hate being facetious, but you're blowing my mind with your "giddy with excitement" committees. Your pet projects are your dreams, but the taxpayers are asked to be on the hook for it. We the people have been fooled over and over, but we are not fools.
