Capital Region announces $35 million expansion May 24, 2013

Springfield, Mo., tank maker to add 289 jobs

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) — A Springfield company that makes stainless steel tanks plans to expand its headquarters and add 289 employees.

Gov. Jay Nixon was on hand Wednesday to announce the expansion of the Paul Mueller Co. The state Department of Economic Development says the business could get up to $2.7 million of tax incentives under the Quality Jobs program, which is based on the number of employees hired.

Paul Mueller designs and makes stainless steel tanks and other equipment for the food, dairy, beverage, chemical, biofuels, pharmaceutical, biotechnology and pure water industries. It currently has about 485 employees at its Springfield headquarters.

Nixon says the company plans to spend $600,000 on new equipment as part of its expansion.

289 skilled jobs welding, CNC, CAD-CAM, etc.! These are going to be relativley good-paying jobs. Good for Springfield!!!

Why can't Jefferson City ever get some skilled technology jobs? If we are depending on low-skill service and clerical jobs for our future, it won't be a very bright future around here...

I'll bet the people in the area are happy to see these new jobs in this area. I know I would, if they are good paying jobs.
