Phony Money in Osage Co.

Chief Deputy Rob Relford with the Osage County Sheriff's Department is advising area merchants to be on the lookout for counterfeit U.S. currency.

Relford said they have recently seen an increase in counterfeit $10, $20 and $50 bills.

Relford encourages all merchants to pay extra attention to these particular denominations of currency and when possible check the bills by use of a currency marker or by checking the watermark.

Relford urged businesses to contact the sheriff's department at (573) 897-3927 if they receive any counterfeit or suspicious bills.
