Beginning Wednesday motorists at the Lake
of the Ozarks will encounter some traffic changes on U.S. 54 as part of the
new expressway construction.
Weather permitting, crews will redirect both eastbound and westbound
U.S. 54 traffic to the eastbound Grand Glaize Bridge. The westbound bridge
will close to traffic so crews can build the tie-in connector roads from
the bridge to the new expressway.
One lane in each direction will be open to traffic in the work area.
The transition to the eastbound bridge is scheduled to begin around 9 a.m.
and will not be complete until late afternoon. Motorists are advised to
expect delays during the transition period.
The new traffic configuration will remain in place through late
November 2011.
Motorists should also be prepared for additional lane closures and
possible delays in the upcoming weeks as the contractor continues work on
the new expressway, which is scheduled for completion in late 2011.
