Ann-Margret recognized for devotion to Vietnam veterans

Since her first USO show in the mid-1960s, singer and actress Ann-Margret has carried a devotion and respect for "her gentlemen" - Vietnam veterans.

In recognition of her endearment to the nation's largest veteran population, Ann-Margret was presented with the 2011 Silver Star Families of America (SSFOA) Commendation Award in a recent ceremony held backstage at the Moon River Theater in Branson.

A non-profit based out of Clever, the SSFOA's primary mission is to recognize and support veterans who are wounded, injured, or have acquired an illness related to their service in a combat zone-regardless of service branch or military conflict.

As part of their mission, the SSFOA conducts an open election process every year to solicit nominations for the organization's premier honor. The commendation can be awarded to military or civilian personnel, departments or organizations who have positively affected the lives of wounded and ill veterans.
