Steelman loans Mo. Senate campaign $400,000

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Missouri Republican Senate candidate Sarah Steelman says she raised about $96,000 and loaned her campaign $400,000 in the third quarter of the year.

Steelman reported Friday on her fundraising and expenses from July through September. She reports finishing the quarter with nearly $562,000 cash on hand, and spending about $115,000 in the three-month period.

Steelman is one of three Republicans seeking the nomination next year to challenge Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill, who has reported raising $1.2 million in the third quarter.

Also seeking the GOP nomination are Congressman Todd Akin and businessman John Brunner.
