Probation ordered for man on reduced charges

Cole County Presiding Judge Pat Joyce recently placed a Jefferson City man on two years unsupervised probation after he pleaded guilty to amended charges in a sexual assault case.

Gordon Debroeck, 23, of 1100 W. High St., was charged with third-degree assault and supplying liquor to a minor, both misdemeanors.

He had been charged in September 2010 with felony deviate sexual intercourse by the use of forcible compulsion, and misdemeanor supplying intoxicating liquor to a minor.

As part of his sentence, Debroeck also must serve 10 days in jail, pay a $300 fine and have no contact with the victim in this case.

A police probable cause statement reported the 19-year-old victim “said she was sleeping and awoke to Debroeck having deviate sexual intercourse with her and she repeatedly told him to stop.”

When questioned by officers, Debroeck admitted to providing alcohol to the victim and holding her down.
