For much of the first half, it was a game of keep away.
The Blue Valley (Kan.) Northwest Huskies had the ball and they weren't giving it up to the Jefferson City Jays.
"They didn't want to share," Jays soccer coach Eddie Horn said. "The game is no fun when you don't have the ball."
Sometimes you have to make your own fun and the Jays did that in the second half Friday afternoon before falling 3-2 in overtime to the Huskies in the opening game of the Art Firley Shootout at the 179 Soccer Park.
"As disappointing as it was to lose, I think we got better," Horn said.
