Police issue advisory for Nixa brother, sister

NIXA, Mo. (AP) - Nixa police are looking for a brother and sister who haven't been seen since they left home on Sunday.

Police say 17-year-old Kevin Merritt and his sister, 15-year-old Tessa, were last seen about 7:50 p.m. Sunday.

Nixa Detective Jason Hartsell says the case is being treated as a runaway situation. Police believe they could be heading to their mother's home in Locust Grove, Okla.

Police said Tessa sent a text to her father Tuesday asking for help. Her cell phone was last used in Belle Plaine, Kan., Tuesday evening.

Kevin is 5 feet, 11 inches tall, weighs 190 pounds. His family says he is mentally handicapped. Tessa is 5 feet, 7 inches tall, weighs 135 pounds. Both have dark hair.
