Library fire still causing problems for MU library

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - Cleanup continues after arson fires at Ellis Library on the University of Missouri campus.

The State Historical Society of Missouri, which is housed at the library, has had to cancel a popular Halloween event because of damage from the fires. The "Trick or Treat through Missouri History" had attracted hundreds of people to the library since it began in 2009.

The small arson fires on Sept. 10 left behind heavy smoke and water damage. Repair costs have been estimated between $600,000 and $1 million, and renovations are expected to take much of the semester.

The Columbia Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/mPXJFr) that a section of the historical society has been gutted and is closed to the public. Employees are working at other offices, although researchers can still use the library.
