KC crews searching well near missing baby's home

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Dozens of emergency workers are searching where there's a well under a deck at a vacant home in Kansas City on the eighth day since a 10-month-old baby vanished from her home.

The property is about five blocks from the home of Lisa Irwin, who went missing last week. Television footage showed crews looking below the backyard deck late Tuesday morning. The width and depth of the well were not immediately clear.

Kansas City police spokesman Steve Young says the search was the resulted of a law enforcement canvass of the area, not a tip.

Lisa's parents reported their daughter missing Tuesday after Jeremy Irwin returned home from work. They say someone must have crept into their home while the child's mother and brothers slept and snatched the girl.
