Accident in St. Louis kills 5, injures 1

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Police say five people died after their car struck a tree on Interstate 70 in north St. Louis.

Police say the accident happened Friday night when the vehicle went out of control, left the highway and eventually slammed into the tree.

Those killed were the driver, 17-year-old Ernez Merriweather; 16-year-old Queen Kelly, 4-year-old Traceono Thompson; 16-year-old D'Anthony Newble, and 35-year-old Tevin Wright. Kelly was from St. Louis and the others were from St. Louis County.

Four people died at the scene and Wright died Saturday morning at a St. Louis hospital.

A 22-year-old woman remains hospitalized in stable condition.
