TAIPEI, Taiwan (AP) — Taiwan’s Foxconn Technologies Group has lauded the late Steve Jobs as a partner and a friend. Foxconn is a key producer of iPhones and iPads in its China manufacturing facilities.
In a statement issued Thursday, Foxconn said Jobs was “an industry visionary, a true partner to our company, and a great friend.”
The statement said that the global electronics industry had been made much better for Jobs’ contribution in “ensuring that technology is understandable, beautiful, and, most importantly, accessible.”
Foxconn employs hundreds of thousands of people at manufacturing facilities in the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen and elsewhere in the country, where it leverages relatively low wages to turn out Apple products in a timely and cost effective manner.
