Council OKs 2012 budget
Tuesday, October 4, 2011
The City Council has officially approved the 2012 budget, with two amendments offered by council members.
At the council meeting Monday, council members approved two of five amendments offered before approving the overall 2012 budget, which goes into effect Nov. 1.
The two amendments approved were offered by Third Ward Councilman Bob Scrivner and dealt with reducing the amount shown as revenue from sales and property taxes.
Scrivner’s first amendment changes the income shown as sales tax revenue from a more than $10 million figure to nearly $9.6 million, keeping in line with what the city has brought in throughout the past few years.
“It’s a safe number,” Scrivner said. “If we do happen to exceed that number, nothing is lost.”
