Charges filed in fatal accident from August

A Jefferson City man has been charged in connection with a fatal accident that occurred in August in Cole County.

Tuesday, the Cole County Grand Jury indicted Damien Bryan, 40, 2600 Bryan Lane, on two counts of second-degree murder and one count of DWI aggravated offender.

Osage County Prosecutor Amanda Grellner was asked by Cole County Prosecutor Mark Richardson to be the special prosecutor in this case.

Grellner said the murder charges have a punishment range of 10-30 years to life in prison and the DWI charge has a range of 5-15 years.

On Aug. 31, the Missouri Highway Patrol reported that Bryan, was northbound in a 1981 Ford F-150 truck as he tried to cross Route C at the South Country Club Spur.

Troopers said Bryan failed to yield to Joan Hamilton's eastbound 2004 Lexus, hitting her car in the passenger side.

It overturned and landed in the path of Donald Edwards' westbound 1995 Chevrolet Blazer, hitting the Blazer on the front driver's side.

Bryan suffered minor injuries and was treated at St. Mary's Health Center. Hamilton, 75, Lenexa, Kan. and Edwards, 58, Russellville, died from their injuries.
