Lady Crusaders win Classic softball title

The first three games of the Helias Catholic Classic were all about pitching, as the Lady Crusaders won with three shutouts. Saturday’s finale was a little different.

Paxton Welch singled home the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth to give the Lady Crusaders a comefrom-behind 8-7 victory over St. Joseph’s Academy at the Binder Softball Complex.

After outscoring their first three opponents 30-0, the Lady Crusaders needed every one of their runs against St. Joseph’s.
