Breast Cancer Awareness Month kicked off with a day of fun and fundraising courtesy of the Elks Lodge 513 Ladies Auxiliary.
Last year, the group decided to host a fundraiser to benefit local women in their fight for breast cancer. Bowling for Boobies raised nearly $3,500 for the group that helps educate and care for local women dealing with breast cancer.
“Everyone knows someone, everyone has been affected by breast cancer,” Jean Carpenter, cochair of the event said. “I just found out a dear friend was diagnosed. It effects us all.”
