Monday's NHL Capsules

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Niklas Backstrom rebounded from a rough outing and made 32 saves, and the Minnesota Wild snapped a two-game losing streak with a 3-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday night.

Steven Stamkos scored again for the Lightning, but Cal Clutterbuck's short-handed goal and Pierre-Marc Bouchard's go-ahead score in the second period gave the Wild all the offense they needed. Mikko Koivu had an assist and an empty-net goal to pad the lead in a quick, clean game that featured only four penalties.

Stamkos has nine goals in 11 games and four goals in his last four games.

Backstrom improved to 5-1-1 in his career against the Lightning.

STARS 3, AVALANCHE 1

DENVER (AP) - Andrew Raycroft stopped 35 shots for his first win in nearly a year, and Dallas beat Colorado.

Raycroft (1-5) hadn't won since beating Minnesota on Jan. 9. He made his first start since taking over for Kari Lehtonen, who was placed on the injured list on Sunday after he hurt his right knee against Phoenix.

Michael Ryder scored two goals, and Eric Nystrom added his eighth of the season for the Stars.

Kevin Porter spoiled Raycroft's shutout bid with his first this season, but Colorado fell to 4-9 at home.

The Avalanche entered with the NHL's second-best power play, but went 0 for 3. Semyon Varlamov made 32 saves.

PREDATORS 2, OILERS 1

EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) - Nick Spaling scored to break a third-period tie, and Nashville snapped a four-game losing streak with a victory over Edmonton.

Spaling netted the winning goal with 7:39 remaining after Jordin Tootoo sent a backhanded pass in front to him for his third of the season.

Shea Weber also scored for the Predators (11-8-4), who played the third game of a tough five-game road trip.

Jordan Eberle had the lone goal for the Oilers (12-10-2), who have lost two in a row and seven of 10.

KINGS 2, SHARKS 0

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Jonathan Quick earned his NHL-leading fourth shutout in his 200th regular-season game, Ethan Moreau ended a 58-game goal drought with his first since October 2009, and Los Angeles beat San Jose.
