Logan-Rogersville scores late for Class 3 title

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Evan Gruener scored on a 31-yard run with 1:41 left in the fourth quarter to lift Logan-Rogersville to a 21-14 win over John Burroughs in Missouri's Class 3 high school football championship game.

Logan-Rogersville (14-1) captured its first crown Saturday in its initial title-game appearance. Burroughs (13-2) was seeking a ninth championship.

Joseph Zimmer added two touchdowns and 160 yards rushing for Logan-Rogersville, which won its eighth straight game.

John Burroughs running back Ezekiel Elliott had 150 yards and two scores.

Logan-Rogersville is located 15 miles east of Springfield. Burroughs is in the St. Louis suburb of Ladue.

Burroughs is coached by Gus Frerotte, who spent 15 seasons as a quarterback in the NFL. He played for seven different teams, including the St. Louis Rams.
