Your Opinion: Standards for living found in Bible

I read Geraldean McMillin's letter again about saying kind words about those individuals that have a different point of view, I would agree with her.

I would also like to suggest that those who have been denigrating the Bush administration and most all Republicans, or talk show hosts stop doing so and show them love!

I can just feel the love flooding all over me right now as I write this letter, knowing that those that have used inflammatory language about those of us on the right see the error of their ways and will stop using such mean-spirited speech. In addition those on the right should do likewise.

If one's standard rests on how you feel about a subject, then everyone can have an opinion about the issues of the day, just like everyone has a nose. This used to be called situational ethics.

For me, the KJV Bible is the book I use for faith and practice in living my daily life. I don't always abide by its teaching, but I try. I do know that, if I don't read it, it is difficult to know what it says about some of the issues of the day. I also know that its precepts are spiritually discerned, which means that if you have not accepted Jesus Christ as your personnel savior, you can't understand what it is trying to tell you.

The Bible never condemns an individual because of the color of their skin, or the country they were born in, or if they are poor or rich. The Bible does condemn certain activities in which some of we humans partake. The Bible says that the "fool" has said in his heart, there is no God. The Bible calls sodomy(homosexuality) an abomination. The Bible doesn't even suggest that drinking alcohol is a good thing, as a matter of fact calling such individuals, drunkards. Yes, the Bible tells us to love our neighbor as ourselves and we should, but when our neighbor is bound and determined to kill us, then we can defend ourselves.

In the Psalms King David said that God knew him in his mother's womb, hence we born-again Christians are opposed to the killing of babies. Some might call us anti-abortion and that is true, but those on the other side then, are pro-abortion! I am pro-choice before conception, not after.
