Nelson-Atkins features Joplin ornament

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Sales of a new holiday ornament at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City will benefit Joplin.

Museum officials planned to unveil the limited edition holiday ornament Wednesday. The "Joplin Angel" will be on sale at the museum gift shop and online.

Proceeds will go to the Joplin Business Recovery Fund, established to help victims of the deadly May tornado.

The museum said in a release that the project is a collaboration between the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, The Nelson-Atkins and artist Irma Starr. Her art has been shown in the Smithsonian's Renwick Gallery and on the White House Christmas tree.
