COLUMBIA, Mo. — A lot has changed in the world since Missouri and Kansas first met on the gridiron in 1891.
But in a rivalry that sees its roots date back to the Civil War, there is at least one thing that has stayed the course. The Tigers flat-out don’t like the Jayhawks. They didn’t 120 years ago. They don’t today.
“My brother went to Kansas,” Missouri defensive coordinator Dave Steckel said about his brother Les, a former NFL head coach. “I love my brother. I don’t talk to him this week.”
As the Tigers and Jayhawks prepare for what could be their last meeting on the football field for a long time (2:30 p.m. Saturday, Fox Sports Midwest-TV), Missouri players and coaches made it perfectly clear this week there is no love lost between the two schools.
