Emerson to face primary challenge

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) — Veteran Congresswoman Jo Ann Emerson will face a primary challenge in her bid for another term in office.

The Southeast Missourian (http://bit.ly/sLY96g) reports that Raymondville rancher Bob Parker says he will again be a candidate for the seat Emerson has held for 15 years.

Parker got 35 percent of the vote in losing to Emerson in the 2010 Republican primary — four times more votes than any previous primary opponents of Emerson. And Parker says he now has much better name recognition than he did two years ago.
