Thieves hit Springfield center for pregnant women

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - A Springfield center for expectant mothers in crisis lost thousands of dollars in donated baby items in a brazen theft.

A thief hit the Pregnancy Care Center Monday and walked off with $6,300 worth of baby clothes, blankets, diapers and bottles.

The center's executive officer, Cindi Boston, says the thief broke through a door and crawled into a storage room in broad daylight. KY3-TV reports (http://bit.ly/vU7LtE) that surveillance cameras show a woman carrying the donated supplies to a vehicle and driving off.

A staff member saw the woman leaving but thought she was a volunteer delivering supplies.

Each woman who goes to the center for help receives a basket full of baby supplies. Boston says the center was packed with supplies for the holidays.
