Suspect Arrested in Cab Driver Robbery
Monday, November 21, 2011
On Sunday, at approximately 4:30 a.m., Jefferson City Police responded to a call of a robbery involving a taxi cab driver in the 800 block of East Elm Street. The robbery had occurred an hour earlier, and the suspect confronted the driver with a handgun and demanded money after being driven to that area from Missouri Boulevard. The suspect, who was with two females at the time they were picked up, was given an undetermined amount of money and left the cab without injuring the driver.
A short time later a disturbance call was received in the 800 block of East Elm, involving a physical altercation involving a weapon. Officers arrived and located several persons, who were later found to be involved with the earlier robbery. Upon investigating and calling Jefferson City Police Detectives to the scene, the suspect, a 34 year old male from Kansas City who is staying in Jefferson City, was arrested for 1st degree robbery, armed criminal action, receiving stolen property, and a felon in possession of a firearm. The firearm, which was determined to be stolen, was recovered, along with some of money taken in the robbery. There are pending charges, although no arrests, on the two females who were present during the robbery as well.

I shut down and removed comments on this page because posts became primarily focused on personality rather than issues. I was hoping that if someone expressed what others felt was a severely misinformed perception that the others would challenge that viewpoint and express their reasons minus any personal attacks so we could gain insight from that. The responses may have shed light on an issue that many people hold misconceptions about. But it didn't go that direction, so we'll move on.
