LOS ANGELES (AP) - Pavel Datsyuk had two goals, Niklas Kronwall got the go-ahead score during a power play in the second period, and the Detroit Red Wings snapped a five-game road losing streak with a 4-1 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday.
Jimmy Howard, who gave up four goals on 21 shots Thursday night at San Jose and was pulled after two periods in a 5-2 loss, was back in the nets for Detroit and made 23 saves - one of them on a penalty shot by Anze Kopitar at 11:06 of the second period with Detroit clinging to a 2-1 lead.
Justin Abdelkader also scored and Tomas Holmstrom had two assists for the Red Wings, who avoided what would have been their first six-game road skid since December 1987. Detroit, which had the NHL's second-best road record last season at 26-11-4, posted its first win away from Joe Louis Arena since Johan Franzen beat Minnesota with an power play goal in overtime on Oct. 15.
Mike Richards scored his sixth goal in six games for the Kings, who were coming off a sweep of their home-and-home set with the Anaheim Ducks. Jonathan Quick made 33 saves.
JETS 6, FLYERS 4
WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) - Bryan Little scored twice early in the first period to help Winnipeg beat Philadelphia.
Dustin Byfuglien had a goal and two assists, and Andrew Ladd, Jim Slater and Nik Antropov also scored for Winnipeg. Little, Ladd and Byfuglien had power-play goals, and Slater scored short-handed.
Scott Hartnell had two goals and two assists, and Matt Read also scored twice for Philadelphia. The Flyers hadn't lost in regulation time in nine games, and had won three straight.
The victory was the Jets' third straight on home ice against Eastern Conference opponents after beating the Tampa Bay Lightning and Washington Capitals earlier in the week.
BRUINS 6, ISLANDERS 0
UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) - Chris Kelly scored two goals and Tim Thomas turned away 22 shots to lead Boston to its eighth straight win.
Patrice Bergeron, Nathan Horton, Andrew Ference and Zdeno Chara also scored for Boston (11-7), who has outscored opponents 42-14 during the streak. The Islanders (5-9-3) have lost three of four and 11 of 13 overall. The Bruins have won 14 of 18 games against New York.
Thomas has two shutouts this season and 28 in his NHL career. New York was blanked for the fourth time this season.
Rick DiPietro was pulled from the Islanders net after allowing three goals on 13 shots. He was replaced by AHL call-up Anders Nilsson, who stopped 14 of 17 shots.
CANADIENS 4, RANGERS 0
MONTREAL (AP) - Carey Price made 17 saves for his second straight shutout, and Montreal ended the New York Rangers' seven-game winning streak.
Brian Gionta scored twice and Erik Cole and Tomas Plekanec each had a power-play goal and assist for Montreal, which is on a 4-1-1 run. Scott Gomez had two assists.
Price, who was rested for the third time this season in Thursday's road loss to the New York Islanders, extended his shutout streak to 132 minutes, 30 seconds - including a 33-save effort in a 4-0 win over Carolina on Wednesday. It was his 14th NHL regular-season shutout.
Rangers backup Martin Biron lost for the first time four starts. He stopped 27 shots.
COYOTES 4, SABRES 2
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Radim Vrbata and Paul Bissonnette scored 66 seconds apart in the second period to lift Phoenix over Buffalo.
Vrbata, who also scored into an empty net, tied it at 2 at 8:35, and Bissonnette connected on a rebound to put Phoenix in front. It was Bissonnette's first goal since Feb. 1 and came with his mother watching her son play live for the first time in his NHL career.
Shane Doan also scored for Phoenix, 3-1 on its five-game road swing. Mike Smith made 43 saves for the Coyotes.
Luke Adam and Patrick Kaleta scored for Buffalo, which has lost two of three while goalie Ryan Miller has been sidelined by a concussion. Jhonas Enroth made 25 stops in his fourth straight start.
MAPLE LEAFS 7, CAPITALS 1
TORONTO (AP) - Jonas Gustavsson made a career-high 40 saves, and Joffrey Lupul had a goal and three assists in Toronto's rout of reeling Washington.
Phil Kessel added a goal and an assist. He leads the NHL with 14 goals and 27 points.
Matt Frattin scored his first NHL goal, Cody Franson chipped in his first as a member of the Maple Leafs, and Tim Connolly, Tyler Bozak and David Steckel also scored. Toronto (11-7-2) won for the first time in five home games.
Brooks Laich scored for Washington (10-7-1), 1-5-1 in its last seven. Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin was held without a point for the fourth straight game.
DEVILS 4, LIGHTNING 2
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Martin Brodeur held Tampa Bay scoreless for 51 minutes, David Clarkson had a goal and an assist, and New Jersey hung on for a victory.
Brodeur lost out on a bid to extend his NHL record to 117 shutouts when Martin St. Louis scored from in-close and cut the Lightning's deficit to 3-1 at 8:24 of the third period. Brodeur made 21 saves en route to his NHL-record 629th career win.
Ryan Shannon's first goal in 15 games, which came 90 seconds after St. Louis scored, got Tampa Bay within 3-2.
Dainius Zubrus, Patrik Elias and Ryan Carter, who scored with 2:03 to play, had the other New Jersey goals.
Tampa Bay had its six-game, home-winning streak snapped.
PANTHERS 3, PENGUINS 2
SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) - Stephen Weiss scored with 3:30 left and Florida beat Pittsburgh for the first time in six meetings.
Brian Campbell and Tomas Fleischmann also scored for Florida, and Jose Theodore had 39 saves. Florida won at home for just the third time this season.
Chris Kunitz and Jordan Staal had goals for the Penguins. Brent Johnson stopped 28 shots.
Florida took its late lead when Weiss poked in the puck between Johnson's legs during a scrum in front of the net.
BLUE JACKETS 4, PREDATORS 3, OT
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - James Wisniewski scored 2:43 into overtime and Columbus beat Nashville on the road for the first time in more than five years.
R.J. Umberger, Jeff Carter and Vinny Prospal scored for the Blue Jackets, who snapped a 17-game losing streak in Nashville - the longest active run in the NHL. The Blue Jackets' previous win in Nashville was on April 3, 2006.
Colin Wilson, Mike Fisher and Nick Spaling scored for the Predators.
WILD 3, BLUES 2, SO
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Mikko Koivu scored twice and Matt Cullen netted the winner in the shootout in Minnesota's win over St. Louis.
Koivu tied the game with 1:38 to play with a power-play goal, and then scored in the shootout.
Minnesota's Josh Harding turned away Kevin Shattenkirk in the tiebreaker, and the Northwest Division-leading Wild won for the ninth time in 11 games.
The Wild's 27 points are the team's most through 20 games in its 11 NHL seasons.
T.J. Oshie and David Backes scored for St. Louis, which has lost four straight road games.
The Blues also lost to the Wild on Nov. 5, and then fired coach Davis Payne the next day. St. Louis is 4-0-2 under new coach Ken Hitchcock.
SHARKS 4, STARS 1
DALLAS (AP) - Brent Burns and Logan Couture both scored power-play goals, Antti Niemi stopped 30 shots, and San Jose extended Dallas' losing streak to five games.
Brad Winchester and Jamie McGinn added even-strength goals, and Joe Thornton and Patrick Marleau had two assists apiece as San Jose improved to 5-1-1 in its last seven games.
Dallas, which has hit the skids after an 11-3 start, had been shut out in its previous two games and has been outscored 21-4 in its last five.
Mike Ribeiro's goal at 6:22 of the third period ended Dallas' shutout streak at 194 minutes, 11 seconds.
