SW Mo. woman gets nearly 3 years for embezzlement

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - A southwestern Missouri woman who pleaded guilty to embezzling about $250,000 from her employer has been sentenced to two years and nine months in federal prison.

The U.S. Attorney's office says 46-year-old Diana Kay Erickson, of Aurora, won't be eligible for parole under the sentence imposed Friday. She pleaded guilty earlier to mail fraud and filing false tax returns.

Erickson worked as a bookkeeper for a company called Superior Lifts Inc., whose owners also operated a company that managed rental properties in Wichita, Kan.

In her guilty plea, Erickson admitted embezzling nearly $220,000 from Superior Lifts - which is no longer in business - and more than $34,000 from the other company, Goolsby Rental Properties. She admitted intercepting checks mailed as payments by customers of Superior Lifts.
