Thursday, November 17, 2011
The Jefferson City Public Schools — along with other Cole County schools and Columbia public schools — raised $30,354 for veterans programs.
Students in Jefferson City and Cole County raised more than $9,200. They plan to give $1,000 to the Wreaths for Heroes program and the remaining $8,288 to help send 27 World War II veterans to Washington, D.C., to visit national memorials as part of the Honor Flight Network.
Students in virtually every class or homeroom raised funds for the program.
