SEC move could affect policy for Missouri

COLUMBIA (AP) - Missouri's move to the Southeastern Conference likely spells the end of a Memorial Stadium halftime tailgating tradition.

Missouri is leaving the Big 12 after this season to join the SEC.

Currently, Missouri allows fans to leave the stadium to smoke or grab a drink as long as their tickets are scanned ahead of time and when they return.

However, the SEC restricts fans from leaving and re-entering football games.

The Columbia Missourian reported the SEC policy has been in place since 2001 and would require a vote of conference athletic directors to change.
