COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) - Tyra White scored 22 points, Sydney Carter added 14, and Adaora Elonu had 11 points and eight rebounds to lead defending national champion Texas A&M to an opening 83-58 win over Lamar on Saturday night.

White, Carter and Elonu are the three of 10 returning players from last year's 33-5 team that won the program's first NCAA title.

The No. 6 Aggies shot 47.5 percent from the field (29 of 61), outrebounded their smaller opponents 42-35 and generated 34 points off 28 Lamar turnovers.

Kalis Loyd scored 20 to lead the Lady Cardinals (1-1), who shot 35 percent from the field (20 of 57) and went 1-for-9 from 3-point range.

ST. BONAVENTURE 64, NO. 25 ST JOHN'S 58

NEW YORK (AP) - Megan Van Tatenhove scored 16 points and Jessica Jenkins added 14 to rally the Bonnies to their first victory over a ranked team since they beat No. 21 Michigan at home in 2008.

It was their first road win over a Top 25 team.

St. Bonaventure trailed by 13 late in the first half before cutting its deficit to 34-29 at the break.

Eugeneia McPherson scored 14 points to lead the Red Storm. St. John's was missing senior forward Da'Shena Stevens, who is sidelined by a knee she injured over the summer.

NO. 14 FLORIDA STATE 68, MINNESOTA 56

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Junior guard Alexa Deluzio scored 17 points to lead the Seminoles to victory in the Women's Basketball Invitational Tipoff.

Deluzio sparked a 15-2 run in the final minutes with back-to-back 3-pointers at the 6:17 and 5:32 marks. Chasity Clayton added 16 points and Cierra Bravard had 11 for Florida State (2-0).

Kiara Buford scored 13 points for Minnesota (1-1).

NO. 19 DEPAUL 86, SAMFORD 57

CHICAGO (AP) - Keisha Hampton scored 20 points and Anna Martin added 19 to lead the Blue Demons to the Maggie Dixon Classic tournament title.

DePaul (2-0) scored 34 points off 25 Samford turnovers, outrebounded the Bulldogs 38-27 and had 14 steals.

Guard Ruth Ketcham paced the Bulldogs (1-1) with 14 points, while Jazmine Powers and Shelby Campbell had 10 apiece.

NO. 20 NORTH CAROLINA 109, GARDNER-WEBB 44

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) - Senior centers Chay Shegog and Laura Broomfield each had double-doubles for the Tar Heels in the season opener for both teams.

Shegog tied her career high with 19 points and had 10 rebounds, and Broomfield added 15 points and 14 rebounds.

Catrina Green and KiKi Smith had 10 points apiece for Gardner-Webb.
