Bus driver charged in Va. crash that killed 3

DINWIDDIE, Va. (AP) - Authorities have charged a bus driver in an accident that left three people dead in a multi-vehicle wreck on Interstate 85 in southeast Virginia.

State police said Saturday that 56-year-old Malverse Vanloan of Greensboro, N.C., is charged with reckless driving in the accident in Dinwiddie County, which killed three people in a pickup truck. The charter bus carrying North Carolina A&T students struck the pickup, pushing it into a logging truck.

It's unclear whether Vanloan has an attorney. The Associated Press left a telephone message Saturday with the university's media relations office.

Officials haven't released the identities of the three who died. A fourth person in the pickup suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The bus driver and logging-truck driver were injured.

The students were heading to Baltimore for a conference.
