Police arrest 8 in Occupy Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) — Police have arrested eight Occupy Springfield protesters.

The Springfield News Leader reports that (http://sgfnow.co/vEHLrN) the protesters were arrested at a vacant lot near the Springfield Expo Center on Friday. The eight people were arrested after they refused to leave the lot.

Keller McElroy was among those arrested and was the first protester released Friday evening from the Greene County Jail. He said he had no problem with how arresting officers treated him.

McElroy, who was wearing a dollar bill taped to his forehead when he was arrested, however, said he was upset because his cash was taken and returned to him as a debit card that required a fee to use.
