There will be at least one contested race in next April's Jefferson City Council elections.
Rick Prather, 2610 Jennifer Drive, filed late Wednesday afternoon as a candidate for the 1st Ward council seat currently held by Mike Harvey, who can't run again because of term limits.
Tyler Woods, 205 Riverside Drive, filed for the seat Oct. 18, the first day for candidate filing.
So far, the 1st Ward is the only ward with an elections contest.
J. Rick Mihalevich, 2nd Ward, and incumbents Bob Scrivner (3rd Ward), Carrie Carroll (4th Ward), and Dave Griffith (5th Ward) currently are unopposed in their respective races.
Candidates have until Nov. 22 to file for the city offices appearing on the April 3, 2012, ballot.
