Two groups, one mission to honor veterans

Wreaths for Heroes is a local organization headed by Lorraine and Pete Adkins. The organization was founded in early 2010 and was successful in placing an artificial wreath at each of the 1,587 graves at the National Cemetery in Jefferson City on East McCarty Street.

Wreaths Across America, part of a nationwide effort, will be fulfilling its mission locally at Riverview Cemetery. Samantha Renner, general manager, said live wreaths, at a price of $15 each, will be laid the week of Dec. 4 and picked up the first part of January.
