11-hour prayer vigil on tap at Capitol

Prayer will be ongoing at the Missouri Capitol for 11 hours Friday.

The Missouri Prayer Global Mission reserved the Rotunda and other areas around the building so Missouri network members may participate with other prayer teams in each of the 50 states.

Not all state Capitols allowed such public use of the building, but prayer groups will be gathered in all capitals, said Regina Shank, leader of the Missouri network.

She was sorry to learn that their reservations - made several months ago in conjunction with this national effort - displaced the Jefferson City Veterans Council's annual Veterans Day commemoration.

"That was not my heart whatsoever," Shank said.
