Authorities search for wild cat in St. Charles Co.

DEFIANCE, Mo. (AP) - Authorities in St. Charles County are searching for a wild cat that has been on the loose for about a month.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that dispatchers received a curious report Friday morning of a "cheetah or cougar" running in a field near Highway 94.

Nick Natoli believes it is Cleo, his pet serval, an African cat that can grow to about 35 pounds and stands about two feet tall at the shoulder.

Experts say they are generally not aggressive toward humans.

Natoli, of the Defiance area, says Cleo apparently broke a wire on her cage and escaped about a month ago.
