Woman charged after car chase

Formal charges were filed Wednesday in connection with a brief car chase that occurred Tuesday in Jefferson City.

According to court records, Sunny Kingsley, 26, 2612 Schott Road, was charged with resisting a lawful stop and driving with a suspended license.

A Jefferson City police department probable cause statement shows an officer tried to stop Kingsley's vehicle just before 11:30 a.m. for not having a front license plate.

As the officer began to turn around to get behind the vehicle, it immediately sped off.

The officer gave chase, but Kingsley continued to drive on at a high rate of speed.

Eventually, the vehicle was stopped at Myrtle and MoDOT Drive, and Kingsley, whose license was suspended, fled from officers.

A further check of the car found it had been reported stolen from Callaway County.

Information from the Callaway County Sheriff's Department showed the vehicle had been stolen earlier in the day from a residence in New Bloomfield. The vehicle's doors were unlocked with the keys inside.

Deputies reported Kingsley said she had taken the vehicle.
