They opened the bids Friday afternoon. And Jefferson City’s Board of Education has a special meeting at noon Tuesday to approve or reject the bids for summertime work on two projects involving three buildings.
The seven-member board will discuss bids on projects administrators want to begin as quickly as possible: renovations at the Board of Education Building and installation of new heating and cooling (HVAC) equipment at both middle schools.
According to the classified advertisement carried in the News Tribune earlier this month, the Central Office work is to include: “major architectural renovations on three floors, select structural modifications, new HVAC equipment, and select electrical and plumbing work.”
The HVAC work at Lewis and Clark and Thomas Jefferson Middle Schools “shall include, but not be limited to, the complete removal of (2) existing rooftop units which serve the gymnasium, and the reinstallation of (2) new rooftop HVAC units at each middle school.”
The district already has acquired the replacement equipment, the bid specifications noted.
The proposed contract also requires “all electrical and temperature control work, along with crane equipment to remove the existing equipment and set the new equipment in place.”
