Mid-Missouri veterans will join their families, friends and other residents Monday morning to remember the contributions of those Americans who died in service to our country.
As in past years, they also will hold a memorial program at Jefferson City's National Cemetery to honor the memory, and the service of, those who've been a part of the military and who have died since last year's Memorial Day program.
The ceremony continues a tradition held around the country since Civil War days, when people on both sides of the war - most often, women's groups including recent widows - decorated the graves of soldiers killed in battle with flowers and flags.
