Police: Girl, 7, shot in head during drug deal

ST. LOUIS (AP) — St. Louis police say a bystander 7-year-old girl was shot in the head on a playground after being caught in the middle of gunfire.

Police did not immediately identify the girl wounded in the shooting Sunday at a housing complex near downtown.

Investigators say the suspect apparently was firing at a young man who apparently owed him money, accidentally shooting the girl.

The would-be target of the shooting was not injured.
