Old Town group awarded not-for-profit status

After more than two years as an agenda item, the pending nature of “not-for-profit status” will be removed from future Old Town Revitalization Company meetings.

The company received its official notification of that status from the Internal Revenue Service, Chairman Phil Freeman announced Wednesday.

Full article states that this organization will be requesting funds for streetscape improvements from the city and county pending salestax extensions. It would be real nice if the rest of JC could get some street improvements from the sales taxes. JC streets are crumbling.

Why would this organization get our tax dollars? Sounds like s "special interest" / "pork" deal.

Spend the money on the streets that are crumbling for all citizens, not just to reward some high society chamber clique.

That is what is wrong with this town. You gotta be in the "club" in order to get good city services.
