Shikles waives hearing in beating death case

A 26-year-old California, Mo., man accused of fatally beating a man April 7 waived his right to a preliminary hearing, Tuesday, and had his case bound over to the circuit courts for possible trial.

Jon. T. Shikles, is charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of Travis Dean Higgins, 31, California.

Higgins’ body was found in an alley about 7 a.m. April 7 in the 400 block of Stella Street, less than three blocks from the Moniteau County Courthouse square.
