Cole County Jail nearly complete

Although they’ll find out more today when they meet with the jail project manager, Cole County officials believe they’ll have the new county jail up and running by late June or early July.

Inmate cells at the county jail will be the only ones in the state to include a shower. This should help cut down on prisoner violence. Jailers will be in control of water flow to prevent abuse of the privilege.

Giving a tour Tuesday to members of the local media, county commissioners and sheriff’s officials showed off what has been completed in the facility at Adams and East High streets.
