Lady Jays head to title game with win

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Makenzy Kliethermes scored the game’s lone goal midway through the second half Monday night to lift the Jefferson City Lady Jays to a 1-0 win over the Sedalia Smith-Cotton Lady Tigers in the semifinals of the Class 3 District 9 Soccer Tournament.

With the win, the second-seeded Lady Jays (9-11) advance to the district title game Wednesday night against the top-seeded Rock Bridge Bruins (14-7-1). Game time is 6 p.m. at Hickman High School.

Rock Bridge defeated Hickman 2-0 in Monday night’s first semifinal.
